Out of the mouths of children...
Last night as I was getting my son to bed, I had to tell him repeatedly to settle down. First I said it in a soft calm voice, "Settle down, buddy... it's sleepy-time." He settled for a moment, and then started getting loud and rambunctious again. So I asked him to settle down again only this time a bit louder and more forcefully. This went on for about 30 minutes until I finally yelled at him and said, "Daniel, settle down and get into bed NOW! I've had it up to here!" He got into bed and settled down. About 15 minutes went by when Daniel hadn't said anything and I thought he had drifted off. Then in a quiet little voice, he asked, "Mommy, did it come down?" Curious about what he meant, I asked, "Did what come down?" I had to laugh a moment later when he said, "That thing you had up to there."
