Someone please tell me that they know how to deal with this sort of situation. I have a gia-normous lizard living in my house. Under the refrigerator, to be exact. Now, before your minds find their happy little way into the gutter, I am seriously talking about an actual reptile.
This thing is HUGE. Dan tells me it's actually called a skink. It looks like the missing link, if you ask me. It looks like an 8-inch long snake with legs. I am literally tiptoeing around the house for fear of stepping on this thing. Currently, I am sitting on a chair with my feet tucked up under me.
I know that it came in from the garage when we were getting ready for our Disney trip and left the door open for a while. I don't mind it living in the garage since it eats other critters (namely the giant spiders that reside there) but I don't want it inside the house with the humans. It is giving me the heebie-jeebies.
It's not so much the tiptoeing around the house that is a problem for me… ok, I lied… it IS the tiptoeing around the house… but it's also the fact that if you're up late at night, you can hear it somewhere in the house. Dan tells me that after we go to bed, if he's up watching TV or whatever he can sometimes hear it getting in to something. I heard it the other night in the kitchen. It sounded like it was getting into a plastic Wal-Mart bag that I had on the floor. Well, just go follow the sound and catch it, huh? Yeah… easier said than done! We've tried that. Have you ever seen a skink move? Those suckers are quick.
If it was just a spider, I'd get a broom and be done with it… but I can't smash a lizard with a broom! Eewwwww.
Last night I had terrible heartburn and was going to get up for some antacid, and then I remembered that it was in here and decided against it. I'd rather sleep with my esophagus on fire than get up and possibly step on this creature.
I might as well name it… since it won't leave. Can you imagine? "So, how many pets do you have? Just the one skink." YIKES!
Any thoughts or ideas on how to get this little guy back into the garage let me know. I am ready to try anything but shooting it.
